Welcome:

Welcome to the West Virginia Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) home on the Internet. We hope you find this site informative and useful.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services is an agency of the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety. Our duties are to assist in protecting the public through research, planning and coordination of services, training and certification of law enforcement officers, and administration of grant funding programs to enhance the capacity of criminal justice agencies in the accomplishment of their duties. Our role is unique in that our task crosses between state and local units of government, and covers all participants in the criminal justice system -- law enforcement, jails, courts, corrections and community supervision.

The DCJS serves as the state administrative agency for the funding programs from the United States Department of Justice. Program assistance to state and local criminal justice agencies are available through the Byrne Memorial, Juvenile Justice (titles II and V), Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant, Local Law Enforcement Block Grant, Victims of Crime Act, Violence Against Women Act, Violent Offender Incarceration / Truth-in-Sentencing, Residential Substance Abuse Treatment and many other programs.

With this web presence we hope to serve you with information that may assist you -- the criminal justice professional in your job. Watch here for notices of grant applications, training information and recent analytical studies that spotlight elements of the criminal justice system in our state.

Your interactive participation is welcome. You may contact us at DCJS.Info@wv.gov with your comments, suggestions or concerns.
